12-K Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program 

 

The Cave Creek School District endorses the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program.  Counselors focus their time on direct services to students. Counselors deliver individual and small group counseling and large group guidance to teach skill development in academic, career and personal/social areas; provide consultation and case management;and coordinate, manage, and evalaute the school counseling program. Mission

The mission of the CCUSD Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program is to empower all students to become productive members of society by ensuring their academic, career, and personal/social development.

The counselors in Cave Creek believe that

• all students have dignity and worth,
• all students have the right to participate in the guidance program,
• the diversified needs of all students are considered in the planning and implementation of the guidance program
• all students 12 -K have access to a full time state certified Masters level counselor

and that the Guidance Program

• is based on specified goals and developmental student competencies
• is planned, implemented and evaluated with representatives of the school community
• utilizes the many combined resources of the school community
• is based and evaluated on specified goals and developmental competencies
• is focused on prevention and intervention opportunities based on student needs

and that all Counselors

• abide by the professional ethics of guidance and counseling as advocated by the American School Counseling Association
• participate in ongoing professional activities , education and staff development essential to maintain a quality guidance program
