2nd grade students are expected to spend 30 minutes a WEEK on IXL ---> www.ixl.com (they were given a sheet about LOG-IN information) Once in IXL they can work through the following letter activites (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M, and R) Each Letter Activity has several lessons. If the letter is not listed above, they should not be doing it, as we have not covered it in class yet. IXL is a fantastic resource to review concepts we have already learned this year!
They will still have 1-2 sheets coming home each week. This is additional practice from the lessons we complete in class. They are also responsible for practicing subtraction BASIC FACTS by either using flashcards, online games, etc.. (They should be documenting it on their MATH FACTS LOG.)---> IXL can definitely count here!
Here are some helpful sites to practice addition and subtraction facts: (A LOT of these games, we play in class!) http://oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/SumSense/sumadd.html (kids love this!) http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/SumSense/sumsub.html (kids love this!) http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/sumsense/summulti.html (if they want a challenge:) http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=ThinkingOfANumberv3 (kids know this as the cloud game:) http://notjustsums.com/TheWallAddition.html (Break the Wall Addition) http://notjustsums.com/TheWallSubtract.html (Break the Wall Subtraction) http://notjustsums.com/TheWallMultiply.html (Break the Wall Multiplication) http://www.aplusmath.com/flashcards/addition.html http://www.coolmath4kids.com/addition/index.html http://www.funbrain.com/brain/MathBrain/MathBrain.html |
