Welcome to our HTES 2012 Fantasy Football League Math

SchoolCenter Picture

Our 3rd season of HTESFFL has begun!
Here's how it all works:

1) Each week, the kids will first determine their weekly starting line up, from the players they drafted, and write it on a roster.

2) Then they will have to look up the stats of each those players during our computer lab time on Thursdays.
Our primary data sources are: http://www.nfl.com/players
,  http://fftoday.com/stats , and http://nytimes.stats.com/fb/index.asp

3) Next they record the raw data they collect using our Data Collection Table.
If your child is going to be absent or just wants to get a jump on data collection, please remember they need to make sure they click on the proper week to get their data as we will always be scoring a week behind the regular season.  For QB TD's, they need to add together passing and rushingTD's for their total.

4)Then on Fridays, we are ready to do our scoring.  They will use their collected data, in conjunction with the equation below, to figure out their weekly player and total team points.

 Here is the equation we'll use to determine total points for each player every week:
6 (T) + 2 (V) + 3 (P+R+ C) - 1(I) - 1(F) = W
FG = 3   PAT =1 Safety = 2

T= number of touchdowns scored by passing, rushing, or receiving
V= number of two-point conversions scored by passing, rushing, or receiving
P= number of passing yards divided by 25, then rounded down to nearest whole number
R=number of rushing yards divided by 10, then rounded down to nearest whole number
C = number of receiving yards divided by 10, then rounded down to nearest whole number
I = number of interceptions thrown
F= number of fumbles lost
W= total points scored for one week for one individual player
PAT = point after touchdown
FG= field goal

*Until they are stronger in their order of operations knowledge, we'll use this Calculation Sheet to walk through the scoring process step-by-step.

5) They then place the score for each of their players on their Weekly Team Roster, add the points for all players to get a  team total, then they submit their final Team Score.   Scores will be posted as soon as possible!

Get ready for a great season!
