K-8 Math Textbook Adoption Committee |
Our K-8 Math Adoption will complete the K-12 math book adoption cycle. We will ask at least two teachers and a parent representative from each site as well as a principal representative, special education representative and a community representative participate in the process. In addition, we will have a highly-qualified, high-school math instructor co-chair the committee.
The committee will receive a copy of the National Core Standards and we will review materials from several different publishers using a rubric establish by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics that evaluates based upon the following:

August 24th – Review Standards and Goals of the Committee/Process of Evaluation September 28th – October 12th – Materials Available for Review – The Fine Arts Center **The materials are on display for both committee evaluation and public review. Should the public have any comments they wish to share with the committee, please email cherkamp@ccusd93.org and all input will be shared with the K-8 Math Texbook Adoption Committee meeting.** September 14th– Convene to Narrow Choices to the Top Three
September 21st -- Review in-depth evaluation of top three choices based on criteria established by CCUSD in conjunction with input from NCTM; NMAP; TIMMS; CCS and other districts' input, rubrics, and guidelines. Review NCTM evaluation process, Textbook Topic and Strand evaluation.
September 23rd, 28th and September 30th -- Top Three Publisher Presentations
October 5th – Review data from presentations -- narrow choices -- teacher representative in-put and in-depth evaluation process.
October 12th -- Representatives from Go Math! and enVisions to present regarding assessment, technology and implementation. Teacher representatives will share in-put and in-depth evaluation process; recommend the fIrst choice – Display for 60 days in school sites and at the Fine Arts Center. November 2nd -- Reconvene 6th-8th Grade Committee members [all members invited/notified] to examine Larsen, Courses 1, 2, 3 for supplemental alignment to CCSS and discuss next steps. Minutes November 23rd -- Representatives from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to present regarding Big Ideas -- also by Ron Larsen -- aligned to the Common Core State Standards for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Display for 60 days at the Fine Arts Center as well as at K-8 school sites. Minutes January 23rd – Send recommendation of top choices to the Governing Board for approval |

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING Both GO MATH! and Big Ideas were approved by the CCUSD Governing Board on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
