For the 2013-14 School year, Cave Creek Unified School District converted four elementary schools to district-sponsored charter schools. The additional money received for the conversion was used to fill the hole left from the K-3 override and M&O override (approximately 3.4 million dollars) that were not approved by the voters.
CCUSD has learned that late last night, the State Budget shifted to eliminate all District Charters totally. This would be a 3.4 million dollar cut for us. CCUSD is urging the community, parents, teachers, staff, constituents and stakeholders to contact your state representatives AND the governor. The representatives for Cave Creek Unified School District are: District 1: Senator Steve Pierce (firstname.lastname@example.org), Representatives Karen Fann (email@example.com), and Noel Campbell (firstname.lastname@example.org) District 15: Senator Nancy Barto (email@example.com), Representatives John Allen (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Heather Carter (email@example.com) District 23: Senator John Kavanagh (firstname.lastname@example.org) , Representatives Jay Lawrence (email@example.com) and Michelle Ugenti ( . The Birthday Book Club is a celebration of birthdays and books. In celebrating their birthday, a student donates a book to the library collection in honor of their birthday. The Birthday Book Club forms are sent home each month by our PTO chairpersons and explain how students can participate in this exciting event.
During the monthly Birthday Book Club celebration, the birthday student comes to the party and picks a book from a selection of books displayed. Their name is placed on a label inside the book and that book is added to the library collection. These students are the first to borrow the books. The library gets new books, and the students enjoy books and a cupcake. What a way to celebrate!
