Brenda Nelson is excited to teach first grade again this year!  She will create a child centered environment and will use her skills in differentiation to meet the individual needs of each child.

Brenda has been teaching for more than 25 years and brings her expertise in the area of literacy to her classroom. She is passionate about children and creating an environment where children are excited and confident in their learning. She believes in knowing each student deeply so that they each grow to be their best.

Brenda is certified in both Elementary Education and Special Education with an additional endorsement in Reading. She achieved her National Board Teaching Certificate in the fall of 2007 in the area of Literacy: Reading and Language Arts for Early and Middle Childhood. She attained her B.S. in both elementary and special education from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts and her M.Ed. in special education from the University of Utah.

She is looking forward to a fabulous year of learning with her students and their families. She welcomes parent volunteers in her classroom and believes that parents are the child's first and most important teacher.
