(location: east alcove of Fine Arts Center)

Robert Peak (1927 to 1992), internationally renowned artist and Foothills resident, painted this stunning book cover portrait as his donation to a community-wide publication project, sponsored by the Foothills Community Foundation.  Peak created more than 40 Time Magazine covers and illustrated hundreds of motions picture posters. He was the recipient of numerous awards for his artistic accomplishments, and tree of this painting hang in the Smithsonian Institute. He was born in 1927 and died in 1992.

This painting depicts the radiant beauty of the Foothills flora and fauna. The Harris hawk, common to the area, is an unusual species which displays an extraordinary degree of cooperation among its social group.  The crested saguaro, which is found on the Cave Creek School District property, is a rare specimen.  It is registered with the state.  The magnificent sunset is one of nature's many gifts to Foothills residents.  Click here to go to the Bob Peak website
