Dear Families,
Just a quick note to let you know about current classroom happenings... We are on Lesson 7 in Journeys, our reading curriculum. I showed students how to take an AR quiz on our stories that we read in class each week. In writing we are working on our "Ted" piece about an imaginary friend. Our focus in on Ideas and Content in the 6 Traits and the writing process with an emphasis on peer editing. In math we are finishing up Chapter 2 which focuses on Multiplying 1-digit numbers with 2,3,4-digit numbers. In social studies I hope to wrap up our unit on World Mountains and Mountain Ranges this week with our group projects. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 is No School for everyone, Fall Break. PTO is working on their Direct Donation Campaign, so if you send back your envelope that would be wonderful. If we get all envelopes back, we win an ice cream party. Have a great week, Mrs. B |

Dear Families,
We have a really busy week going into the long weekend, so it's very important for all students to be in class this week as we finish up GoMath! Chapter 1 and take a test, Journey's Lesson 3 and take our usual spelling, comprehension, and skills test, and our Core Knowledge Map Vocabulary test. Students can review and practice all the material at one of these websites: www.thinkcentral.com for math and reading, www.quia.com for map vocabulary, and www.spellingcity.com for spelling. We will also be completing our Arizona Grid Maps and Place Value Monsters this week. Remember, all students should be reading, or reading to, or reading with someone each night for at least 20 minutes. Have a great week, Mrs. Befort |
Thank you so much to all of the parents and students who joined me for Curriculum Night. I hope you found it informative and I answered all of your questions. Remember, my blog page and the websites I've indicated on the parent brochure will be where you will find information and be able to practice work. We are a 21st Century classroom and a lot of our work will be online! Please contact me if you have other questions that did not get answered. Both my presentation and the brochure can be found on the front of my webpage. Have a great weekend! Heidi Befort |
Hello Students and Families!
Tonight we will be having our Curriculum Night where parents can come meet with the teacher to hear about our classroom and our year. I've created a brochure with helpful hints about routines and homework. If you cannot attend, please let me know and I will send it home with your child. Also, my powerpoint will be posted on the front page for those of you who would like to view it. We are working this week on 1) Listening, 2) Following Directions and 3) Being Organized, in addition to adding to our routines. Thanks so much for encouraging this at home. Have a great day, Heidi |
